Born in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture in 1966. I started oil paintings at the age of 15.
After that, I entered Aichi Prefectural University of the Arts and studied Japanese painting.
After graduating, I became a high school art teacher, but I retired in five years and went to London alone to study abroad.
I studied printmaking and photography at the London Institute, Central St. Martins College, Graduate School from 1994 to 1998 and earned a master's degree.
After returning to Japan, I became a teacher of the Japanese painting course at an art university in Aichi prefecture from 2000.
In 2019, I retired from the university because of depression.
After a period of inactivity, I changed my artist's name from my real name to XYZM in 2022 and started NFT art.
I continue to the present.

AI and art
I don't feel threatened by AI. My rival is a living artists. Behind the works created by artists, there is always the intention of the artist, who is a living human being. Thare is no such thing in works created by AI.

Boundary between life and death
Since the second half of the Camellia Flower series, I have pursued the theme of the boundary between life and death. A camellia flower that has fallen to the ground looks fresh, as if it were still alive. From the realization that it might already be dead, I became interested in the boundary between life and death, which cannot be seen by looking at it.
Virgin forests and endangered species of animals can also be said to be based on the theme of the boundary between life and death, in that they are in danger of ecosystem crisis and the danger of death as a species, which cannot be seen from the outside.
Cicada husks do not mean the death of cicadas, but they are interesting in that they are in the form of lifeforms that once lived, but are now just husks without lifeforms. I was fascinated.
The theme of the food series with erasers has nothing to do with life and death, but it looks like food, but it's actually just an eraser. It is related to this work in that I was attracted to the gap between appearance and its essence.
XYZM 2022
I just took a picture of a small eraser. But when I look at the picture, it looks like a fine sculpture. It's not as real as a food sample, so its cheap feeling is rather interesting. People don't know the size, and they wonder what this is, and it's full of mysterious charm.
In 2022, I re-started the production that had been away for a while. The opportunity was my encounter with NFT art.
After I retired from the university I was working for due to depression in 2019, I didn't feel like doing anything and I was away from production.
After that, my depression didn't go away and I had a gloomy day, but for me, who wasn't motivated and stayed at home all day without work, eating was the only thing I wanted to do.
At one point in 2022, I learned about the existence of NFT art, thought that I might be able to do it, and the desire to make it again grew.
I'm disgusted with human relationships and I'm in a withdrawn state where I don't interact with anyone, but I'm new to NFT art, where I can get the opportunity to present my work from production with just one computer while staying at home. I felt the possibility.
However, once I was away from production, I didn't know what to express, and I didn't have the theme I wanted to express.
So, anyway, I decided to draw my favorite thing in my life, and that's how I started this food series.
I didn't think I needed to use canvas or paint anymore, so I used Photoshop to draw what I was eating.
Next, at the pharmacy where I get the medicine of the doctor I go to every week, I found the small eraser in the shape of the food that I happened to find interesting, and with that as a motif, I took a picture this time and processed it with Photoshop. I came up with.
I'm also interested in food samples. But unlike real food samples, I found the cheapness of the details interesting when I took a picture of an eraser, it's a mysterious and surrealistic finish.
This time, I thought it would be interesting to take the work out to the city and put it in various places, so I tried it.
Of course, I didn't actually put it, I just played with the photos, but that was the next development.
Anyway, it's still a trial and error process, but I tried to make it into a work without decorating my daily life, which is my only purpose of life, the act of putting it on the way to take a walk after going to the doctor. ..
I will continue this routine for a while.
NFT works are sold on this site.

I started art when I was 15 years old. A junior high school art teacher at the time praised my painting so much and he advised me to start oil painting.
After entering high school, I joined the art club and started oil painting. After that, I entered an art university in Aichi prefecture, where I majored in Japanese painting.
After graduating, I became a high school art teacher in Aichi prefecture, but my work was hard and I couldn't keep up with the production.
After quitting as a high school teacher in five years, I started my career and went to England alone.
